A little bit of randomness

Every year on their birthday we take a picture of the boys in Hector’s Mexico soccer jersey.  It has been fun to compare the current picture to the previous ones and see how much they have grown.

 

I am trying to get the perfect picture to hang above our piano.  I think I am going to use this one (sepia tone).  Good thing a got a few good ones before the boys started getting silly and smelling their own and each others feet.  Not quite sure how that all came about, but I think Joaquin was the instigator.

This is a craft I found in a magazine recently and decided to replicate it for the new baby’s room.  Quin’s hand is on the left and Marco’s is on the right.  

Escuela Birthday

WOW, to be five again and have 3 parties for one birthday.  Marco had his friend party on Saturday, family party on Sunday, and he brought his birthday snack to school on Monday. 

 

Marco with his teacher.  She makes the birthday kid a crown and they are the leader for the day.  He thought it was pretty special.

  He also got to sit at the special table and choose who sat with him.  He choose his friend Andrew and Joaquin.  I didn’t notice this at first, but it was the only table with flowers and a table cloth.  That was funny to me.

Party Fun!!

Marco had a great time at his birthday party this past Saturday.  I was fortunate to reserve this indoor playplace because it is very popular and it rained like cats and dogs all morning.  An outside party would not have been possible!  Thank you to all his friends for making this day extra special for him. 

Just noticed how the painted fish is leering at the cupcake, like it just might jump off the wall and take a bite.

Gotta love the blue icing.  I promise the bakery lady said that spray-on color didn’t make as much of a mess as full color icing.  I think she was wrong.

 

And of course Joaquin had to get in on the blue nose action.

Tower O’ Blocks

 Here we are once again building with the blocks that my sister Wendy bought for the boys. 

This time I tried to make a tower following one of the pictures on the box.  It leans a little, but pretty good for my first time.

The tower was almost as tall as Joaquin.  I would have kept going, but we ran out of blocks.

The calm right before the storm. Both M and J wanted to knock it down so badly.  Once I was done, I lined them up on either side and counted to three.  Marco decided to kick the tower like a soccer ball and truly regretted that about a second after he kicked.  It just so happened that he kicked a corner of one of the blocks and it made a red mark on the top of his foot.  I guess that will teach him not to do that again.

First Soccer Game

This is Marco’s first season to play soccer.  His team is called Major Trouble, and it is so funny to watch them play.  They are a bunch of 4 and 5 yr olds running around, chasing a ball, in WAY oversized clothing.  Doesn’t get much better than that.

Labor Day in Brady

 Every year Brady has the Cabrito cook-off. It is basically a small town festival with craft booths, little kid rides, etc.  You don’t actually get to taste the cabrito entries, but it is a big deal to place in the contest. 

The boys in the ARMY helicopter.  They really enjoyed pretending to fly it and shoot down the invisible bad guys.

Hector bought this for himself but once the boys got a hold of it, he never got it back.  It is alligator on a stick.  He told them that it was chicken and they were never the wiser.  I refused to even try a small bite of the batter.

Hector teaching the boys how to shoot a BB gun.  Well, he actually never let them shoot it, but I think that is because he was having too much fun to hand it over.

Joaquin trying his first chili lollipop. (in the shape of a corn cob)  He actually liked it, but after awhile he just wanted the sugar cob under the chili so we had to wash all the red stuff off.

Chalk Art

Today we made chalk people in the outline of both Marco and Joaquin.  First they added features to their face, followed by coloring in clothing.  Then Marco got the wild idea to make the chalk figures anatomically correct.  He even added a belly button to his figure as a final detail.  Thankfully it rained a few days after this so our driveway is a clean slate once again.

   

In this final picture he added that his was peeing. I think we were done with this art project at that point.  (at least I know I was!)
