Halloween chalk art

After decorating the outside of the house, Marco decided that our driveway needed a little decorating too.  Here are his masterpieces….IMG_3045 IMG_3039

Halloween Goodies

I bought this pretzel kit last year after Halloween so this is the first time we have been able to use it.  We had to buy new candy melts of course but it was actually easier than  I expected.  Of course, I forgot to get pictures of the after products, but the boys ate them up so quickly I didn’t think about it until it was too late.

** Special note for the select few we gave a pretzel to… The following pictures were taken after the pretzel making was complete.  In no way, shape or form was this icing-licking experience going on during the actual making of the pretzels.  Your pretzel is safe and untainted.  :)

Train Costumes

Joaquin possesses a love for trains that Marco never really had at his age. So this year J wanted to be Thomas the Train. I just couldn't make myself pay $20 for a cheap Thomas tunic, so I decided to make one. I saw this idea on a crafty blog and just had to replicate it. Plus it was so easy to do, I ended up making a James costume as well. (James was actually easier to make because my apron was already red) FYI for anyone wanting to try this, I used the aprons you get free when you do the Lowe’s build and grow kid workshops.

Marco is just modeling James for the picture. He is actually going to be the black Spiderman this year. And yes, I did end up buying his costume ($12) because I figured trying to make it(mask and all) would have cost more. Plus, when they are 5 it is harder to convince them of your wonderful ideas. :)

Pumpkin Patch

We made our first trip to the pumpkin patch this season. We go to this one every year and each year it seems to get more and more crowded. But we have fun and got some pumpkin pictures, so its all good.

Googly Eyes

We went to a birthday party this past weekend and these glasses were included in the goody bag.  They love taking pictures with them, and it really makes me laugh!

Feeding the fish at Bass Pro

We had a fun afternoon at Bass Pro shop Wednesday.  After picking Marco up from school we headed over to Grapevine so we could see them feed the fish in their giant fish tank.  We are in the process of buying a new car, so we had the Trailblazer detailed to the extreme.  Because of this I made a new rule of no eating in the car.  It took the boys about 2 full days to realize that  I was serious and was not giving in.  So on this Wednesday I packed a lunch and we ate it in the Bass Pro parking lot. Sure we got a few strange looks, but hey my car stayed spotless!  :)

The boys driving the big party barge.  This was a NICE boat.  I’m sure they appreciated the kids checking out all the buttons.

This picture cracks me up because Marco looks a bit unsure and Joaquin is as happy as can be.  Even though it looks like the fish is going to take a taste of his shoulder.

This was a nice area right outside of the building, I wish Joaquin had been more in the picture taking mood.  But I did get some good ones of Marco.

First Fall activity of the season

Calloway’s nursery has this activity every fall at the beginning of October.  The kids get to decorate a pumpkin and draw with sidewalk chalk. There is also a bounce house, but I think the main draw is the free popcorn.  (ok, I admit I love the popcorn too!)
