New summer dos

I finally did it. I cut off all the curls. But it was a necessity as the weather was getting warmer. Now I just hope that they will come back as the hair grows out. I did this once before to Marco’s hair right before Joaquin was born. They really like it, but I think it will only be for the summer. I like the crazy curls, so I will be ready to see them back by the fall.

No, this isn’t a relative of the chupacabra. It is all the hair I cut off their heads!

Here is the last picture I have of them with super short hair. (well actually Joaquin didn’t have much hair until he was a year old) Marco is almost 2 1/2 and Joaquin is 2 months

Goat milking…. what??!!

On Friday we played hooky from swim lessons and decided to go to Nash Farm in Grapevine. They were having a pioneer day, complete with goat milking. The boys had a lot of fun playing on the tractors and walking through the mini corn field.

Hula’s got talent?

Because summertime TV viewing is limited to mostly game-show style programs, we have watched a few episodes of America’s Got Talent. One night last week there was a group of girls doing tricks with hula hoops. At the time, Marco didn’t seem to express much interest in the show but the next morning he quietly got the hula hoops from the garage and started practicing. After asking him what he was doing, he replied, “ I’m gonna get on America’s Got Talent like those girls last night. I just need to learn a few moves.”

Quin got bored with it fairly quickly but he still wouldn’t put the hoop down. I think he was afraid Marco would take it and not give it back.

Sunglasses and inventions

Lately Marco has been very interested in inventions. After I explained what an invention was, he promptly asked, “ok, now will you help me make one?” I told him that his invention would be his project, and he needed to think of an idea. So this is what he came up with….

LASER GLASSES! He can now shoot “bad guys” while also protecting his eyes from the laser rays. He used almost an entire roll of scotch tape, but he thought of it all by himself.

The side view is my favorite. :)

Laser glasses in action.

Of course Joaquin wanted some glasses so I gave him my granny glasses. Granny glasses + crazy hair = too funny

He just cracks me up!

Redneck pool

We recently went to a friend’s house who had one of these kinds of pools and she affectionately dubbed it the “redneck pool”. Marco had so much fun playing in it at her house I thought we would give it a try at ours. I kept in mind the fact that it will most likely kill the grass underneath. So we tried to place it in a spot that had the most weeds. Because of this it is on a slight slope, but thankfully that doesn’t seem to affect the function. (for now anyway, we will see what happens at the end of the summer)IMG_1309IMG_1319 IMG_1312 IMG_1314 IMG_1317

Man, its hot out here

We have already reached triple digits this summer, and it is only the beginning. I forgot to take pictures of the boys playing on the slip n slid but these are some good ones of the baby pool/slide.

IMG_1292 IMG_1293 IMG_1298 Love this action shot

IMG_1294 Don’t think sliding down splits style is going to work, but you go ahead and try.

IMG_1299IMG_1303 IMG_1304

And of course we needed some popsicles after all the sliding. I think it is funny how I could not get both of them to smile at the same time, but in each picture one is smiling while the other is very focused on the treat.

T-ball closing ceremonies

Marco finally received his beloved medal. He had been asking if he would receive a medal or trophy after every game this season. (All 9 of them!!) I was so relieved when I could finally tell him that we were going to a ceremony to get his medal. The medal now hangs in the wall in his bedroom and he has informed me that he will need me to put a shelf on his wall for his future trophies.

Here is a not so good picture of his coaches putting the medal over his head.
