Swimming Boys

The boys are really enjoying swimming this summer.  It was a slow start, especially for Joaquin.  But now they jump in, do tricks, and Marco has learned a lot from swimming lessons.

Budding Artists

The boys are really getting interested in art.  They did great working together until the very end when Joaquin decided that Marco’s page needed a little neon color.  Too bad I didn’t get a picture of that finished product.

4th of July in Brady

We went to Brady to visit with Hector’s parents this past 4th of July. This trip as become customary, as Hector’s birthday is on the 5th and it is nice to experience small town Independence Day festivities. Unfortunately there were no fireworks this year because the weather did not cooperate. But we did attend the parade in “downtown” Brady and the boys had a great time.

IMG_1420 Marco is unhappy because he is tired of waiting for the parade. But Joaquin and Nancy don’t seem to mind.

IMG_1423 Marco is in better spirits when we tell him that they will be throwing candy at him.

IMG_1424Notice Hector’s dad’s attire. He wears that same shirt and hat every 4th of July an only on the 4th of July.

IMG_1425 Not much to say about this picture, I just love Joaquin’s smile! He is such a happy boy.

IMG_1432 IMG_1433 M: I think I see the horses!IMG_1435The fire trucks were too loud for Joaquin.

I guess both of them are not really into loud noises.

IMG_1444 IMG_1445 IMG_1446 Only in a small hunting town would you see something like this. In both pictures it doesn’t look it the truck has a driver. And come to think of it, I don’t remember if it actually did either!!

IMG_1448 IMG_1449 IMG_1450 First time I have actually seen a humming bird this close.

IMG_1454 Marco learning a skill every boy should know…. slingshots.

IMG_1455 IMG_1458 IMG_1460 Yummy corn right off the grill.

IMG_1462 This is the first time I have ever seen a mobile traffic light. On back country, 2-lane roads you don’t expect to see this. They were fixing a “bridge”, and had the road down to one lane.

And the boys missed it all during their nap. Because it takes about 45 min. –1 hour to get to the next biggest town, not much else to do but take a snooze.

The boys

We take yearly pictures of the boys together and then once by themselves on their birthday.  I have a display of these pictures in our back hallway and it is fun to see how they change each year.  Here are some pictures from our latest professional shoot.        (aka Target)   :)

Playing in the rain

IMG_1412We finally had a break from the scorching sun with a few days of rain.  This afternoon we were outside experimenting with a new sidewalk chalk painting craft when the rain started coming down.  Marco had been asking to play in the rain and today he got his chance. IMG_1418Marco said that he thought the rain had stopped so Hector told them to look up at the sky as the rain fell on their face.  They soon realized that it was in fact still coming down.IMG_1417Marco wiping a rain drop from his eye as Joaquin laughs. IMG_1411   IMG_1414 IMG_1415Hector decided that it would be the perfect time to mow the yard.  It was getting quite long and he finished just in time before the downpour came.

Noodle Fun

We love noodles at our house.  Our garden has finally gone out of control and the basil plant is huge.  With all the leaves I picked, we made a delicious pesto pasta.  Here are a few pics of the boys slurping their noodles.  I think this was Joaquin’s first time to figure out how to do this, because as you can see it made him very excited.

IMG_1386     IMG_1381IMG_1380IMG_1379I forgot to add that we also had blueberries as a side dish.  Next time I will remember to put the bib on him.
